Fishing Equipment (BoFIII)

Throughout the game there are a variety of rods and bait that can be found. As you progress, the quality of the rods and bait increases, making the fishing mini-game much easier. Below are some tables which list the name, location and description of each type of rod and bait.


Fishing Rods

Name Location Description
Angling Rod Can be bought from one of the Faerie Village shops. To be able to buy this rod, you must open up a Handyman shop which specialises in Ability items. The fourth rod that can be obtained. Has extremely long range but the line breaks easily.
Bamboo Rod Found in one of the higher level rooms of the Tower after Momo joins the party. The second rod that can be obtained. Has medium-long range but the line breaks easily.
Deluxe Rod Found in the house at the Checkpoint near Dauna Mines. Rei must be in the party to access the room containing this rod. The third rod that can be obtained. Has medium-long range and is stronger than most of the other rods.
Master's Rod To Be Added To Be Added
Spanner Found in an underground room located in the top right hand corner of Steel Grave. Momo must be in the party to access the room containing this rod. The fifth rod that can be obtained. Has medium-long range and is the strongest rod in the game.
Wooden Rod Bought from the item shop in McNeil Village. The first rod that can be obtained. Has low range and line breaks easily.



Level 1 Fishing Bait

Old Popper Item shop in McNeil Village. Costs 20 Zenny. A basic fish lure. Sinks when reeled, floats when stationary.
Sinker Item shop in McNeil Village. Costs 20 Zenny. A basic fish lure. Sinks when stationary, floats when reeled.
Toad Item shop in McNeil Village. Costs 20 Zenny. A basic fish lure that looks like a frog. Does not sink.
Worm Item shop in McNeil Village. Costs 20 Zenny. A basic fish lure, good for deep water fish. Sinks when stationary, floats when moved.

Float Manillo shop S of Tower (Flying Fish x3) (More to be added) A better fish lure. Sinks when reeled, floats when stationary.
Popper Manillo shop S of Tower (Flying Fish x3) (More to be added) A better fish lure with low range. Does not sink.
Spirit Manillo shop S of Tower (Blowfish x3) (More to be added) A better worm lure with lead sinker. Sinks when stationary, floats when reeled.

Hanger Manillo shop SE of Mount Zublo (Octopus x2) (More to be added) A high level fish lure with good balance. Sinks when stationary, floats when reeled.
Top Manillo shop SE of Mount Zublo for (Octopus x2) (More to be added) A high level fish lure. Sinks when reeled, floats when stationary.

Heavy Caro Manillo shop W of Steel Beach (More to be added) A higher level worm lure - large weighted. Sinks when stationary, floats when reeled.
