Breath of Fire II

Breath of Fire II is a direct sequel to the first Breath of Fire game.
The game begins with Ryu, his father, and his younger sister, all of whom live in a village. The young Ryu heads out to a cave outside the village, and is defeated by a monster. On his return, his father and sister have disappeared, and he is unknown to the villagers. Ryu grows up in an orphanage.
It is a tad darker than its predecessor, with Ryu being displayed, at times, as an anti-hero.
